MARATHON WORLD RECORD
Peter Goode posted this on the SRRA Facebook page on Sunday.
Kenyan Patrick Makau runs 2:03:38 at the Berlin Marathon, unofficially a new world record! Pacer Stephen Chemlany was the second finisher in 2:07:55. That is amazingly fast!
BRUCE IS BACK HOME
Several weeks ago I posted on our Facebook pages that Jessica’s dog Bruce had gone missing. I checked with Jessica on the weekend and happy to report that Bruce had just been found after almost three and a half weeks. Bet he got some treats. Jessica says he is very happy to be home.
CARLY IS BACK FROM WORLD’S
Carly Priebe is back from Canada’s World Paratriathlon Championship training camp in Beijing where she was coaching the paralympic triathlon team. She is offering the following training for triathletes and runners.
TRX & Restore for Triathletes & Runners - Tuesday nights from 8:45-9:40pm for 12-weeks (Oct.4th to Dec.13th, 2011) at Lead Pilates (on Taylor St.) coached by Carly Priebe of Transition Sport & Fitness. This very functional strength training will focus specifically on the needs of triathletes & runners (all abilities welcome as exercises are easily varied). If you have never used TRX suspension training straps you are in for a treat! This 55minute classes will include exercises to strengthen swim, bike, and running muscles as well as strengthen stabilizers to prevent injury. Single leg exercises, in particular, will be used to challenge athletes to achieve balanced musculature. The final portion of the class will focus on restorative exercises using various props to aid in recovery. A great "off-season" or base training program for triathletes & runners!
COST: $15/class (contact Carly at carly.coach@gmail.com or www.transitionsportandfitness.ca or register through Lead Pilates directly, www.leadpilates.com ). Interested in more TRX? Also sign up for Carly’s open TRX class on Saturdays 9:30-10:25am.
