BRAINSPORT - The Running Store LOGO BRAINSPORT TIMES
May.17.12

Another Saskatchewan Marathon is in the record books and if you haven’t seen the results yet you can find overall and age class results at www.raceheadquarters.com/results/rhqResultsRun.php as well as alphabetically in Monday’s Star Phoenix.  A big thank you to the folks at On Purpose Leadership, Saskatoon Road Runners, sponsors, participants, volunteers, and those who hung out on a chilly morning to cheer on the runners and walkers.

Above are two pictures from Greg Pender of the Star Phoenix.  On the left is Brendan Lunty and Brian Michasiw running side by side and then at the finish reacting to Brian’s PB.  Brian really enjoys running a race with Brendan as, if you can imagine this, they chat while running at that pace.  Brendan won the race with Brian coming in second.  Brian is not disappointed, in fact he is delighted as he ran a personal best by about 3 minutes.  Don’t they look smashing in their  BRAINSPORT singlets!

Congratulations to everyone who ran or walked in the events on Sunday.  I have heard a lot of comments about people having personal bests. I know  that besides the hard work put in by the participants, credit also goes to the coaches out there who have been behind these improvements.  We have a great crew of coaches associated with BRAINSPORT and they make our clinics a great experience.  Thanks to Colin Federow and Michael McDonald for coaching marathon participants,  Brandi Pozniak and Colin French for coaching Half Marathon participants, Heather Hynes the 10K participants, Jen Kripki - Learn to Run, and Brad Spokes who is a huge resource to us.  These coaches do a tremendous job.

BEETS ME

Ha!  Brian heard about beet juice last week as being a benefit to endurance runners.  He drank about 500 ml a day for a few days leading up to the marathon.  Along with all his training, talent, and coaching by Jason Warick maybe this had something to do with him beating ( beeting? ) his past marathon times?  Jason was also running this past weekend. He finished fourth Canadian in the Canadian Marathon Championships held in rainy Ottawa.  Jason’s time was 2:24:41 for 16th overall and first in his age group.  Back to the beets, here is a link to an article Brian read http://runningmagazine.ca/2011/01/sections/training/blogs/beet-juice-its-the-nitrates/ .

I took some pictures at the Marathon on Sunday, here is a link to them
