Participants of the Mogathon on Saturday morning were treated to some pretty nice running weather.  Those wanting to train outdoors on Sunday, not so much. I’m trying to build a new deck, might have been a better idea to build a boat!  Results Canada did the timing for the Mogathon and you can find all the results at

BRAINSPORT ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Wednesday, July 13 marks our 20th anniversary and we hope to see you out to celebrate with us.  Please call the store, email, or drop in and let us know you are attending so we can plan appropriately for food and refreshments.  July 13 is a Wednesday night and our 1000th meeting of the Wednesday night Run Club.  For this occasion all the action will be at the Cosmo Seniors Centre on 11th street just half a block away.  Participants will meet there, head out for a walk or a run then return to begin the festivities.  We are planning a slide presentation so if you have any old photos related to BRAINSPORT we’d like to borrow them to add to the presentation.  We’ll scan them and return them or if you like, you can scan them and email them to us at brainsport@brainsport.ca attention Jamie.

TRIATHLON NEWS

The Great White North Triathlon held at Stony Plain, AB is a popular one with Saskatoon triathletes and it is this Sunday, July 3.  Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.

Gabrielle Edwards is a local junior triathlete who is really making her mark on the racing scene.  Last year BRAINSPORT and Aquasphere provided Gabrielle with a new wetsuit to race in.  The provincial governing body, STAC issued this bulletin on Monday.  Remember this name, you may see her in the Olympics some day.

ST-MALO, MB—Gabrielle Edwards earned another podium result with a solid third place finish on Sunday at St. Malo, Manitoba, the first race in the 2011 Teck National Junior Elite Race Series. Edwards finished the sprint triathlon with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes and 52 seconds, finishing one minute thirty-four seconds behind first-place finisher, Ellen Pennock of Calgary. Tristan Woodfine, from Ontario, won the junior men’s event with a time of 55 minutes, 18 seconds. It was his and Pennock’s first-ever national titles.

Only one week earlier, 16-year old Edwards beat all juniors and adults at the Craven-Genki Pike Lake Triathlon in the sprint race. This brings Edwards’ collection of podium finishes to one win, two seconds and a third place in four races in 2011. Earlier in the season, she finished second at both Fast Brazil and the North American Junior Triathlon Championships in Florida.
