BRAINSPORT ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Wednesday, July 13 marks our 20th anniversary and we hope to see you out to celebrate with us. Please call the store, email, or drop in and let us know you are attending so we can plan appropriately for food and refreshments. July 13 is a Wednesday night and our 1000th meeting of the Wednesday night Run Club. For this occasion all the action will be at the Cosmo Seniors Centre on 11th street just half a block away. Participants will meet there, head out for a walk or a run then return to begin the festivities. We are planning a slide presentation so if you have any old photos related to BRAINSPORT we’d like to borrow them to add to the presentation. We’ll scan them and return them or if you like, you can scan them and email them to us at brainsport@brainsport.ca attention Jamie.
ANNIVERSARY SALE
Starting Saturday, July 9 and ending Wednesday, July 13 we will be having our 20th Anniversary Sale. Most everything in the store will be 20% off with the exceptions of Garmin products and the Meewasin Sigg bottles. In case you aren’t familiar with the Meewasin edition of the SIGG bottles, a portion of every one sold BRAINSPORT passes on to Meewasin Valley Authority.
NEW NUUN FLAVOUR
Nuun has brought out Strawberry-Lemonade and it is really good. With this hot summer weather it is a good time to remember to hydrate well and replace electrolytes and you’ll enjoy doing so with this great taste!

MOOSE JAWG RACE REPORT
Some of you may remember a former BRAINSPORT manager by the name of Sean. Sean and family took in the Moose Jawg event on Canada Day and he sent us this race report. Sounds like a fun event to put on your calendar for next year. Thanks for the report Sean.
If you are looking for a nice way to supplement your Canada Day celebrations I can strongly recommend trying the Moose Jawg 5k or 10k event. Held annually in, you guessed it, Moose Jaw, this fun filled event has something for everyone. As part of the Timex Roadrace series it brings in those looking to face some fast competition but there is plenty of room for everyone else too. I was there as a spectator/cheerleader for my wife who used the 10 km race as a training run for her upcoming half marathon and for my two young girls who participated in the super fun Runt Run, an 800 metre race just for the kids. The kids gave us adults a thrill, not only with their running skills, but also with their inspiring rendition of Oh Canada! Medals and popsicles were awarded to all the participants and even to a few of us winded coaches. Mine was grape. After that it was time for the big kids to start. The 5k route was through the scenic Wakamow valley which featured a few bridge crossing, a few hills and even some nice off road moments. The 10 km race was two loops of the 5k course which made it nice for the runners and the spectators to keep contact with loved ones. This years race fielded a record number of runners, 568, and this sparked some really impressive times. The U of S product Caitlin Warkentin set a women,s 10k record (36.24) as did Mens winner Matthew Neff (34.16). In a side note my wife set a personal best and my kids left me in the dust.
The mens 5k winner was Iain Fife in 15.25 and the womens 5k winner was Karissa Lepage in 18.49. I noticed that the womens 5k record remained in the grasp of Brainsport run club member (Ed. note & Clinic Coach) Brandi Pozniak for yet another year. The perfect weather and chip timed race was followed up by a scrumptious pancake breakfast and numerous prize giveaways. The winners received brand new trophies as did the age class winners. Did I see Judy and Randy Warick lurking near the winners table? In any event all who participated were winners as was the Moose Jaw Heath Foundation who has received over $50,000 dollars in donations from this event over the last ten years. Hope to see you there next year!!! Sean “Gray Ghost” McConnell
