It was a dark and stormy night. That was this past Saturday night at Waskesiu. Morning came and there was a bit of wind but the lake was relatively calm for the swim portion of the 30th annual Frank Dunn Triathlon. The recent storms had really stirred things up so the water was cold and murky, kind of like Pike Lake without the weeds. Well into the race the skies opened up and we got a downpour of rain. The water was pouring off my helmet as I entered the bike to run transition. As I took off on the run I was caught on film with a smile on my face. I was having fun playing in the rain!
A lot of Saskatoon athletes take part in this race every year as it is a really nice venue to race in and a well organized event. In the Team Event, Saskatoon’s Better Than Bond Girls took first place in the women’s teams. Two of the members are regular Run Club members. Janis Shirriff swam and Lorrie Dobni ( also SRRA President ) ran with Carolanne Inglis-McQuay biking. Congratulations Ladies. Results for the race are available at http://www.resultscanada.com/ .

WALKING CLUB REVIVAL
There were a lot of comments at our 20th Anniversary party about “community” and how Run Club is a community. We would like to extend that community feeling by including Walking Club in our Wednesday night gathering. Walking is a great way to build fitness and health. We would like to see the Walking Club be as successful and fun as Run Club is. We have two new enthusiastic members who would like to facilitate this revival of Walking Club. Joy Ryan and her son in law Alan Carlson started coming out to walk while other family members run with the Run Club. If you haven’t been out in a while why not come back and see what the Walking Club can be for you? Runners, if you have a spouse or friend who doesn’t run but would like to walk and maybe join you for the weekly dinner gathering after Run Club, why not bring them along?
Just a reminder that Walking Club and Running Club get under way at 6PM on Wednesdays. We will all meet for announcements and group assignments in BRAINSPORT.
IN BRAINSPORT
We have been getting some new ladies swimwear and need to make room for the new styles. Therefore we’ve pulled out some of the suits we’ve had for awhile and marked them down by 50%, need a new suit?
adidas Solution - a new shoe from adidas in the stable neutral category. Might be right for orthotic wearers.
IN PEDESTRIAN
We’ve received a new shipment of Fall Vibram 5 Fingers. Fall shoes are arriving from other brands as well including El Naturalista. Check them out.
