Well that was a wonderful Easter weekend. Finally some nice, warm, sunny weather.

I was among many who enjoyed a nice Saturday morning run in the Police Service Half Marathon.  I did the 10K and enjoyed the route through downtown Saskatoon, that was a nice change from other routes we usually run.  Lots of potholes to dodge though.  Winter sure has been rough on our roadways.  Congratulations to Run Club member Chris Schwartz for his win, here is a picture Brian caught of Chris crossing the finish line.  Race Director Wade Bourassa let Brian play with the radar gun, now he’s going to want one of his own.

Last summer we had C-95’s Rambling Dave coaching a couple of Learn To Run clinics.  Dave and family are leaving for Ottawa after this week, our loss.  Best wishes Dave and family, it was fun having you on our coaching team.  If anyone is interested in joining our coaching team, let me know.

HILL TRAINING

Is another tool in your tool box for improving your running.  Brad Spokes has put together this article for your information which I have put on our Ask An Expert page

http://brainsport.ca/contact/ask .

CANADIAN RUNNING MAGAZINE

We’ve often mentioned how great this magazine is at highlighting Canadian events and runners.  The latest issue which I just received a few days ago has an article on the Vancouver Marathon and how it was one of the earliest of the large international marathons.  What was really interesting though was the two pictures of Run Club member Ric Hanna racing the 1973 marathon.  Take a look and see a real veteran of road racing in his prime.

SALOMON TRAIL EVENT

On Sunday we hosted the Salomon Trail Event introducing the Salomon Crossmax.  After a short presentation on preparing for trail running we tried on the new Crossmax shoes and went for a trail run along the lower trails lining the river.  It was a blast and the shoes performed really well.  These shoes are designed for trail running but with sufficient cushioning to get you to the trails on pavement.   If you couldn’t make it on Sunday, there is one more opportunity tonight at 5:30PM at Outer Limits just down the street from us.

Check out Canadian Running’s Trail Edition to get lots more information and ideas, we have it in store.

TRI GEAR

Triathletes, check out the new triathlon clothing we have brought in from TYR.  They have really got into triathlon big time and have some really nice gear.

QCM UPDATE

The Half Marathon is sold out and now the Team Relay is sold out.  Marathon is 52% sold out, Half Walk 59% sold out.

ARTHRITIS SOCIETY

Saturday, May 7 the Arthritis Society Joints in Motion members in conjunction with BRAINSPORT and Uber Performance who bring us Gu, will be hosting a free aid station on the Meewasin Trail near the Rotary Park washrooms.  If you are out walking or running stop by for water, energy drink or gel.

Then on Thursday, May 12 there will be an Open House at their new office at 1815D Lorne Ave and the second annual Walk To Fight Arthritis.  Here is a link to their event website: www.walktofightarthritis.ca
